It was in the Larsen Ice Shelf in Antarctica where these were found and they will surely keep the scientists very busy. It has been said by a college senior that mud is very informative. From a university and a college, the National Science Foundation funded a one month trip in Antarctica and this college senior was among the lucky people who went. When it comes to research travel, these schools have been exposed to them already.

Many researchers use Antarctica for their scientific studies because there are many things there that can’t be found anywhere else on Earth. There is a large ice sheet which covers the majority of the land mass and also serves as a permanent series of floating ice shelves which cover hundreds of miles into the sea. The greatest one of these shelves, the Ross Ice Shelf, turns out to be almost as big as Texas. There have been studies through the years that show this particular chunk of ice is moving to the north at a speed of almost 1800 feet per year.
